What is AEO and why does it matter now?

AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimisation. Traditional SEO gets you ranked in a list of links. AEO gets your business cited directly in AI-generated answers from ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Siri, and Perplexity.

When someone asks an AI "who's the best electrician in Toowoomba?" it doesn't return links. It names a business. AEO is the structure that determines which business gets named. Most businesses have no idea this is already happening.

Do I need a website if I already have Facebook or Instagram?

Yes. Social platforms are closed ecosystems. Google can't fully read them, AI can't reliably cite them, and you don't own the content.
